The Tribes
Dwarves

The most unique thing that sets the dwarven race apart from the other civilized tribes is that there is no recorded history of them ever residing anywhere other than in the Eastern Mountains. Since before recorded time, the dwarves have called the mountains, and even their city of Stonemouth, home. In fact, the dwarves were the first tribe to be settled in what is now known as the Lands of Order. The other races trickled in as the centuries passed, but like the mountains they call home, the dwarves have always stayed firmly in place. This has allowed the dwarves to spend centuries carving Stonemouth out of the side of the mountain. To this day, it is the most impressive marvel of unnatural construction in the world; grander even than the Temple. The granite cliff face is chiseled and hammered into a large metropolis that reaches from base to peak and extended deep into the mountain itself.
Dwarves are built similar to humans, but stand at least 3 feet shorter on average. Their bodies are rounded and stout looking, with thick muscles and very little definition to their features. They have tough hides, able to withstand several hours of abuse from harsh weather or hot sunshine.
Another thing that sets the dwarves apart is their openness. While the other tribes of the Lands of Order tend to keep to themselves to one varying degree or another, the dwarves can often be found in any place that welcomes them, though they’re usually there to sell something. To the dwarves, anyone who isn’t an enemy is a friend...and potential business partner. Their greatest allies are their western neighbors, the humans. Trade between Meadowgold and Stonemouth has gone on for so long that the road is wider and flatter than any other in the Lands of Order.
In dwarven culture, commerce and craftsmanship are everything. Dwarves pride themselves on the making and selling of goods and don’t see one going without the other. When you buy something from a dwarf in Stonemouth, you’re buying it straight from the hands that made it. They barter using a centuries old and highly detailed scale of values between various goods that has found its way into the neighboring cultures to one degree or another.
Dwarves are ruled by a lord whose family has held authority in Stonemouth since the signing of the first Tri-leaf Pact. This lord serves as the dwarven representative to the Tri-leaf Council, though is known to frequently send someone else in his place.
